Childe Hassam (1859-1935) was an American Impressionist painter best known for his iconic coastal scenes of New England, particularly of the city of Boston. His vibrant, luminous paintings of the bustling city streets, parks, and waterfronts captured the energy and dynamism of the modern city. His work, which often featured a playful interplay of light and shadows, was widely praised and has come to define the American Impressionist movement.
