Vladimir Makovsky was a Russian painter and art critic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was a member of the influential Peredvizhniki movement, which sought to bring art to the people in a realistic style. Makovsky's works often featured everyday life in Russia, with a focus on the struggles of the common people. He was a master of genre painting and his works are celebrated for their vivid colours and attention to detail.
