Lucas Cranach the Elder was a German Renaissance painter and printmaker, born in 1472. He is remembered for his beautiful religious works, as well as his portraits of the Saxon court. He was the court painter to the Electors of Saxony and was a major influence in the development of the German Renaissance. Cranach's works are highly sought after and can be found in many prestigious galleries and museums around the world.
