Francis Wheatley (1747-1801) was an English portrait and landscape painter. He was born in London and trained under the engraver and publisher Robert Sayer. Wheatley was best known for his portraits of the British gentry and his landscapes, which often featured scenes from mythology. His works were popular during his lifetime and his influence can still be seen in the works of later painters.
