Paul Serusier was a French Post-Impressionist painter and printmaker who was an important figure in the Symbolist movement. He is best known for his painting The Talisman, which was created in 1888 and is credited with inspiring the development of abstract art. Serusier's work is characterised by its bright colours, bold brushwork, and use of symbolism to convey spiritual and poetic meaning.
