Vasily Perov (1833-1882) was a Russian realist painter who was a member of the Peredvizhniki, a group of Russian realist artists. He is best known for his paintings of rural life, which often featured peasants and members of the middle class. He was also a portrait painter, and his work is characterised by its attention to detail and its naturalistic approach. His work has been widely praised for its ability to capture the everyday life of the Russian people.
