Samuel Palmer (1805-1881) was an English landscape painter, etcher and printmaker. He was a major figure in the Romantic movement and his work is characterised by a strong sense of atmosphere and a distinctive use of light and colour. Palmer's work was highly influential on the British landscape painting tradition, and his prints remain popular to this day.
