Edouard Manet was a French painter who bridged the gap between Realism and Impressionism. He was a pivotal figure in the transition from Realism to Impressionism, and his works are characterised by a bold use of colour, strong brushstrokes, and a sense of immediacy. His most famous works include Olympia, Luncheon on the Grass, and The Execution of Maximilian. Manet's works remain some of the most celebrated and influential in the history of art.
