Franz Seraph von Lenbach (1836-1904) was a German painter known for his portraits and landscapes. He was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and was a part of the circle of artists that included Wilhelm Leibl and Carl von Marr. His works are characterised by meticulous attention to detail and a focus on the psychological aspects of his subjects. His paintings are held in numerous public and private collections around the world.
