Caspar David Friedrich
1774 - 1840
Caspar David Friedrich (1774-1840) was a German Romantic landscape painter, one of the leading figures of the German Romantic movement. His works are renowned for their mysterious, melancholic and contemplative moods which evoke a sense of awe and admiration for the beauty of nature. His paintings often feature contemplative figures silhouetted against barren landscapes, evoking a sense of loneliness and longing for the infinite. Friedrich's paintings continue to be popular and highly sought after, making him one of the most influential landscape painters of the 19th century.
We have 88 artworks in our catalogue by Friedrich available for order. Browse our full collection of Friedrich prints, or browse other German or Romantic artists.
