Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg (1783-1853) was a Danish painter and draughtsman who is considered to be one of the most important figures in the Golden Age of Danish painting. He is known for his masterly depictions of everyday life, landscapes, and portraits, and for his pioneering use of light and shadow. He was also a key figure in the introduction of the French Neoclassical style to Denmark.
