Currier & Ives was one of the most prolific printmaking firms of the 19th century. Founded in 1857 by Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives, the firm produced thousands of lithographs depicting scenes of everyday life in America, as well as historical and political events. These prints, often referred to as “American Chromolithographs,” remain popular today and are highly sought after by collectors.
