George Cruikshank (1792-1878) was an English caricaturist and book illustrator. He was born in London and trained at the Royal Academy. His works are considered to be among the most influential and iconic of the 19th century. His work ranged from political cartoons to book illustrations for authors such as Charles Dickens and William Makepeace Thackeray. Cruikshank's work is still highly sought after and his prints continue to be popular among art collectors.
