John Sell Cotman (1782-1842) was an English landscape artist and printmaker of the Romantic era. He was a member of the Norwich School of painters, a group of artists from the same area in England who were known for their landscape paintings. Cotman's work is characterised by his use of light and shadow to create a sense of atmosphere and drama in his paintings. His etchings and lithographs are considered some of the finest examples of printmaking from the period.
