Francis Cotes (1726-1770) was an English painter renowned for his beautiful rococo style portraits. His works are known for their delicate brushwork and exquisite use of colour, often featuring a pastel palette. He was a favorite of the royal family, and was appointed as a court painter by George III. He also had a successful career as an engraver, producing some of the finest prints of the era. His works remain highly sought after today, and are highly prized by collectors.
