Henry Thomas Alken
English Artist, 1785 - 1851
Henry Thomas Alken (1785-1851) was an English painter and printmaker, best known for his sporting art. He was a prolific artist, producing a wide range of works that included landscapes, genre scenes, and portraits. His works often featured horses and hunting scenes, and he was a master of capturing the energy and movement of his subjects. Alken was also a successful printmaker, producing a large number of prints that were popular in the 19th century.
