Peter Lely

Peter Lely was a Dutch painter born in 1618. He was a court painter to Charles I of England, and is best known for his portraits of the nobility of the day. His style was heavily influenced by the Italian Baroque, and his works are characterised by their vibrant colours and dramatic compositions. He left a lasting legacy on the English court, and his work is still highly sought after today.
