Henri Lehmann was a German-born French painter and portraitist who was a central figure in the Romantic movement of the mid-19th century. He was renowned for his portraits of famous figures of the time, including King Louis-Philippe and the author Victor Hugo. His works often featured a dreamy, ethereal quality, with a focus on the inner emotions of his subjects.
