Artemisia Gentileschi (1593-1653) was a pioneering female painter in the Baroque period. She was known for her vivid and powerful depictions of women, often drawn from classical mythology. She was the daughter of the Italian painter Orazio Gentileschi, and her works were heavily influenced by the Caravaggio style. Her most famous works include Judith Slaying Holofernes and Susanna and the Elders. She was a trailblazer for female artists and her influence can still be seen in modern art.
