Carel Fabritius
1622 - 1654
Carel Fabritius (1622-1654) was a Dutch painter of the Dutch Golden Age. He was a master of light and colour, and his works are known for their extraordinary use of chiaroscuro. His most famous painting, The Goldfinch, is considered a masterpiece of Baroque art. Fabritius was a student of Rembrandt, and his style is closely related to that of his teacher. He was a great innovator of the Dutch Baroque style, and his works are an important part of the history of European art.
