William Dobson (1611-1646) was an English Baroque portrait painter, considered one of the most important of the era. He was the first English painter to be accepted as a member of the prestigious French Royal Academy. Dobson was known for his vivid and realistic portraiture, as well as his use of vibrant colours and bold brushwork. His works are now highly sought after and are available as fine art prints.
