John Brett (1831-1902) was a British landscape painter and marine artist whose work was greatly admired in the late 19th century. He was a member of the influential Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and his works are characterised by a meticulous attention to detail and a romantic vision of nature. His most famous works include 'The Stonebreaker' (1860) and 'The Vale of Rest' (1877). His art is highly sought after today and his prints are highly collectible.
