Granville Redmond

American Artist, 1871 - 1935
Granville Redmond was an American Impressionist painter and printmaker known for his depictions of the California landscape. Born in 1871 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Redmond was deaf from a young age and attended the California School for the Deaf in Berkeley. His work is characterised by its bright colours and expressive brushstrokes, and he is best known for his plein-air paintings of the California coast and the Sierra Nevada mountains.
