Thomas Girtin

Thomas Girtin (1775-1802) is one of the most admired British landscape painters of the Romantic era. His work is known for its delicate and precise renderings of light and atmosphere, as well as its careful attention to detail. His most famous works include his views of London, as well as his watercolour studies of the Lake District and Wales. Girtin's influence was so strong that he was credited with inspiring the next generation of British landscape painters, including J.M.W. Turner.
