Giorgio Vasari (1511-1574) was an Italian painter, architect, and writer. He is best known for his biographies of the great Italian Renaissance artists, which have become the standard source for information on the period. He was also a prolific painter, creating many frescoes, altarpieces, and portraits. His work is characterised by its use of bright colours and its attention to detail. He is considered one of the most important figures of the Italian Renaissance.
