John Roddam Spencer Stanhope (1829-1908) was a British Pre-Raphaelite painter, one of the most important of the second generation of the movement. His works are known for their dreamy, romantic and often mystical qualities, often featuring classical or biblical themes. He was also a skilled etcher, and his prints are highly sought after.
