William Trost Richards (1833-1905) was an American landscape painter and printmaker. He was a prominent member of the Hudson River School, and is best known for his romanticised depictions of the American coastline. His artwork is characterised by its detailed and realistic portrayal of nature, as well as its use of light and colour. His prints are highly sought after for their beauty and complexity, and are considered to be among the finest examples of American landscape art.
