Edward Henry Potthast (1857-1927) was an American Impressionist painter known for his idyllic beach scenes and lively harbour views. His works are characterised by their bright colours and energetic brushwork, capturing the joy of a leisurely day spent by the sea. Potthast was a master of depicting people in their natural environment, conveying the beauty and joy of the everyday. His works are widely collected and can be found in the collections of many major museums.
