Thomas Moran (1837–1926) was a renowned American landscape painter and printmaker. He is best known for his grand, sweeping landscapes of the American West, especially his images of the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. His works, which combined meticulous detail with romantic idealism, had a lasting influence on American art. Moran was a member of the Hudson River School and a founder of the American Watercolor Society. His work is widely represented in major museums and collections around the world.
