Simone Martini (c. 1284 – 1344) was an Italian painter and mosaicist of the Sienese School. He is particularly noted for his iconic Maestà, a representation of the Virgin Mary enthroned in Majesty between two angels. His works are characterised by a highly decorative style, with elongated figures, brilliant colours, and intricate details. He was one of the most influential artists of the 14th century, and his works are highly sought after today, often appearing in fine art prints.
