Theodore Gericault (1791-1824) was a French Romantic painter best known for his large-scale painting, The Raft of the Medusa. He was also a prolific draftsman and printmaker, creating a number of powerful and expressive prints that capture the drama of his paintings. His prints are highly sought after and are often seen as some of the finest examples of the Romantic period.
