Antonio Allegri da Correggio (1489–1534) was an Italian Renaissance painter from the city of Correggio in Emilia-Romagna. He is best known for his use of chiaroscuro, a technique of using light and dark to create dramatic contrasts and vivid details in his paintings. His works are characterised by their graceful, sensual figures, dynamic compositions, and innovative use of colour. Correggio’s paintings are highly sought after and have been reproduced in a variety of fine art prints.
