William Merritt Chase
1849 - 1916
William Merritt Chase (1849-1916) was an American Impressionist painter and printmaker. He was born in Indiana and studied at the National Academy of Design in New York City. He was a leader in the American Impressionist movement and was known for his landscapes, portraits, and still lifes. He was a master of colour and texture, and his works are highly sought after in the world of fine art prints.
