Louis Leopold Boilly (1761-1845) was a French painter, draftsman, and lithographer. He is best known for his genre scenes which depict everyday life in Paris during the 19th century. Boilly's works are highly detailed and filled with wit, humor, and social commentary. His work is often compared to that of the Dutch masters, such as Jan Steen and Frans Hals. Boilly's work is highly sought after and can be found in many of the world's leading museums.
