Rogier Van der Weyden (1399-1464) was a leading Netherlandish painter of the 15th century, widely known for his religious works. He was an influential figure in the development of Renaissance painting in Northern Europe and is considered one of the greatest painters of the 15th century. His works are characterised by a meticulous attention to detail and an emphasis on realism, often featuring religious figures in vivid, emotional scenes.
