Vasily Polenov (1844-1927) was a Russian landscape painter and draughtsman, and a member of the Itinerants group of Russian realist artists. He is best known for his scenes of rural life, depicting the beauty of the Russian countryside and its people. His works are characterised by a strong sense of colour and light, and a unique ability to capture the atmosphere of a particular place. Polenov's works are highly sought after and are available as fine art prints.
