Nicolaes Maes (1634-1693) was a Dutch Baroque painter known for his portraiture, genre scenes, and religious paintings. He was a master of the Rembrandt school and a major influence on Dutch Golden Age painting. His works are characterised by their realism, attention to detail, and vivid colours. Maes' paintings have been widely reproduced and are now available as fine art prints.
