George Inness (1825-1894) was an American landscape painter who was known for his mastery of light and atmosphere. He was a leader in the Hudson River School, a group of American painters who sought to capture the beauty of the American wilderness. Inness’s works are characterised by their use of soft colours and subtle gradations of light to capture the beauty of the natural world. His works are highly sought after by collectors and can be found in many art museums and galleries.
