Henry Fuseli (1741-1825) was a Swiss-born artist and writer whose works were characterised by their vivid imagination and intense emotionalism. His style was influenced by the Romantic movement of the late 18th century, and his works often featured supernatural or fantastical subject matter. He is best known for his iconic painting The Nightmare, which is widely regarded as a masterpiece of the Romantic movement. Fuseli's work continues to be highly influential to this day, inspiring many modern artists.
